Teams that will not have at least 9 players for a game may request to use a player from a different team within the same division. Players may request to be included on the sub list during registration, or by contacting
. If a sub is needed, the coach(es) of the team must follow the steps outlined below:
Little League board members will assemble, post, and regularly update a substitute availability list for each league below.
When a coach is in need of a sub, they must check the sub list and call the first player available on the list. If the first player on the list isn’t available, continue contacting players on the list in the proper numerical order listed. Please refrain from the urge to call the “best player” on the sub list and be sure to follow the numerical order. Failure to follow this protocol will result in an automatic forfeit for your team for that game, along with potential coach discipline.
Only play the sub(s) you obtained if you have 8 or less players from your roster at your game. If 9 of your roster players show up, the sub may not play. Subs may not pitch and must be listed as the 9th batter in the batting order. Failure to follow this protocol will result in an automatic forfeit for your team for that game, along with potential coach discipline.
If you are going to play a necessary sub, report your sub to the umpire and opposing coach prior to the game, and then report the sub you used to your commissioner when you report the game scores. That information will be used to update the substitute availability list order on the website.
